I’ve been working remotely since 2010 and I’ve spent hundreds of hours in virtual meetings. Some are great, but most can be inefficient and lack inclusiveness.

Check out this video for the keys to running a great virtual meeting.

These are the highlights:

Before the Meeting

Be deliberate with your planning. Based on the objective of your meeting and where your audience/team will be located, decide what tech tools to use. Know your tech and test it in advance. Make sure all your attendees have the meeting info and materials and know how to get into the call. Have a back up plan!

During the meeting

Set expectations, use mute strategically, use an ice-breaker, for hybrid meetings have a buddy in the room, use a back-channel, leverage video and screen sharing

After the Meeting

Recap and have a feedback loop
